Virgin America Teammates Come Together For AIDS Walk San Francisco

The Virgin Group recognizes the many opportunities we have for tackling HIV and AIDS as well as our responsibility to take our part in the effort to deal with the epidemic. For this reason, Virgin is committed to the 0% Challenge. The 0% Challenge is our commitment to become actively engaged in working towards specific goals for our workforce across the globe:

• 0% deaths from HIV & AIDS
• 0% new infections
• 0% transfer of infection from mother to baby
• 0% tolerance of discrimination against those living with HIV

Bringing this home to us, we’re proud to announce Virgin America’s participation in our 2nd Annual AIDS Walk Team! Last year, nearly 50 teammates and families raised over $4,200 for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and we’re hoping to raise those numbers even higher as we join 25,000 walkers on Sunday, July 18th, for a 10-kilometer walk around Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

How to get involved

We’re inviting you, your friends and family to join the Virgin America Team! It’s easy to sign up, and easy to fundraise (really, its not hard at all!). And, every penny counts; there is no minimum amount of money a teammate must raise to walk. Oh, and better yet, you can earn 500 VFIT points when you complete the walk!
Just go to http://tinyurl.com/VXAWSF, click “Join Our Team”, and fill out the short form to sign up. You can login if you have a username from walking in the past.

How to fundraise

Fundraising isn’t too difficult for this cause. You’ll get some information on how to set up your personal fundraising webpage when you sign up. All it takes is letting your family and friends know via email, or social media that you’re walking and hopefully they’ll respond with a donation.

The website only permits donations $25 and above for a credit card, so it’s totally ok to collect smaller amounts via cash and check to bring to the event the day of or send in the mail.

What happens the day of the walk?

We’ll have fun, and the more walkers, the more fun. We’re hoping to get at least 100 walkers so that we can secure a larger team station, at which we can also celebrate at post-walk.
If you can’t walk on July 18, you could sign up and be a Virtual Walker, meaning you can fundraise as if you are walking, but not actually come to Golden Gate Park on July 18th. Or, as always, you can sponsor a teammate who is walking!
We’ll have more information as we get closer to the walk, so stay tuned to email and Activate.
