‘V Australia’ the Silver Lining for the Silver Lining Foundation to the tune of $19,000

In only seven months the V Australia team has managed to collect more than $19,000 in onboard charity donations for The Silver Lining Foundation.

The VA 'Change for Charity' initiative, which mirrors the hugely popular Virgin Atlantic in-flight fundraising program has been warmly embraced by the VA team, whose contribution to the cause will help change the lives of Australian Indigenous youth.

The Foundation provides the young Australians - whose options are otherwise limited - opportunities for long-term employment, skills development, trade qualifications and accreditation. Work and training is offered in areas such as forestry, environment and rural services and hospitality.

Flight Manager Rhiannon and CCDM Joseph have the Silver Lining in the bag!

The onboard collections will be used to purchase capital equipment so the Silver Lining Foundation can continue to provide holistic natural resource management services, covering nursery production (native species seedlings), planting, after-planting maintenance, riparian revegetation, forestry management and weed control.

Specifically, the funds will be put towards the purchase of a custom tandem wheel (dual axle) trailer for carrying equipment to remote sites behind a four wheel drive (valued at approximately $7,500) AND a professional spray unit for weed control (valued at approximately $14,000).
